Standard Size began as a playful act of resistance against the typical example photos on packages of ink jet paper. To purge this information from view, the stock photos and other imagery are physically removed from the packages, and the marketing text is covered up with colored masking tape. Each modified surface is then lit and re-photographed to emphasize the gestures of redaction. The result is a series of flat compositions that reconsider the creative opportunities held in the materials themselves.
